LACROSSE SPRING PROGRAM

Open to all SLUH boys grades 9-12

February - May 2023

$375 fee/player

Varsity Try-outs start Monday, February 20th (President's Day) at 10am. 

• Cuts will likely conclude by Thursday, February 23rd or by Friday, February 24th
• Testing Day for those trying out for Varsity (all are invited): Date TBD
  • Wall Ball Challenge
  • Speed/Shuttle Run Test

JV Blue Starting Date: Thursday, February 23rd or Friday, February 24th at 3:30pm.

• There are cuts for JV Blue: freshmen are able to try out. 

JV White will start Tuesday, February 28th:

• There are no cuts for JV White

Athletes new to the sport are not encouraged to try out for Varsity and will begin practices on February 28th with the JV White Team.

Practices: All lacrosse practices are mandatory

• JV White Team 3:30pm-5:00pm Monday through Friday
• JV Blue Team 3:30pm-5:30pm Monday through Friday
• Varsity team 5:00 pm-7:00pm M-F & 8:00am-10:00am some Saturdays 

Games: You can expect 14-16 games. Day and times will vary. 

Tournaments:  The annual Fr. Marco Cup will take place at Desmet this year in April. 

Travel: Varsity players will have a team fee applied to their account after the team selections are made. This team fee will be used to help finance the Varsity trips to Memphis (March 17th-19th) and Kansas City (April 28th-29th).  The estimate for the trips is $600 per player which includes travel, lodging, and food. More details to follow.

Spring Break: Varsity Team is expected to practice in St. Louis Wednesday March 15th and Thursday March 16th, a walk through Friday, March 17th and head down to Memphis for a Friday night game.  Games will also be played on Saturday, a team dinner Saturday night, and coming home on Sunday. JV Teams will have practice times available during Spring Break, more details to come.

April Break: There will be a break for the Easter Holiday from April 6th – April 10th. There will be no Lacrosse during this time.

Uniforms/Warm-ups/Practice :  

• Players will be given a uniform set (2 SLUH Jerseys & shorts)  which will be distributed once teams are selected.  These will be returned to the club at the end of the season. 
• Players will also be given a SLUH Practice Kit with a sweatshirt, sweatpants, t-shirt, and shorts along with a shooter shirt to be worn at games and should already have or will be given a pinnie for practices. 

Gear needed to play:  It will be required to be in full gear for tryouts.  This includes a helmet, mouthguard, shoulder pads/liner, elbow pads, jock, turf cleats or athletic shoes, and a lacrosse stick.

2022 Was a great year for SLUH Lacrosse.

Varsity made it to the final 4, JV Blue outscored their opponents 91 to 48, JV White gave us a glimpse of talent and strength in our program, and we started a new 7th and 8th grade Jr. Jr. Bills.  THE FUTURE LOOKS BRIGHT!!
